Erphaan Alves Steps Up His Mission To Push Soca Global
Erphaan Alves Releases New Soca Song That Challenges Established Status Quo.
‘Some of them does talk de ting, but I come out here to walk it. ’ ~Soca Global
With this rallying cry, Erphaan Alves affirms his love for soca music and challenges his industry peers with his latest release. The song is yet another step forward on his mission to push soca music globally.
In this latest release entitled ‘Soca Global,’ Erphaan emphasizes his desire to see soca music get mainstream attention not only in the Caribbean, but across the world. The lyrics of the song speak of his love for soca music and the lengths he is willing to go as an artiste to keep garnering global attention for the genre. The song was released on September 19th in conjunction with a video produced by filmmaker, Steven Taylor. Erphaan describes this release as a ‘declaration of his passion for the artform and his commitment to soca’s quest for global recognition.’ *
It is yet another venture for this artiste who is emerging as a true soca ambassador. Earlier in 2019 he launched a ‘no seasons’ campaign. The goal of the campaign is to dispel the seasonality that normally shrouds the release of soca music. Erphaan believes there should be no limit to the time of year that soca music is released by artistes or listened to by patrons. This flies in the face of the established moors that dictates soca music be released around the months of October/ November to get Carnival enthusiasts familiar enough by Trinidad and Tobago’s Carnival season in February/March.
