Reggae Month Builds Bridges To Expand The Music’s Global Presence
February is Reggae Month. ‘A voice for the voiceless and the soundtrack for the global resistance.’ That was the description put forth of the impact of Reggae music by Reggae innovator Andrea Davis, Founder & Producer of International Reggae Day (the 1st of July annually). In this episode of Karibbean Kurrent, team member Jason SkyWalker speaks to Ms. Davis and Singer & Songwriter, Rica Newell (of Melody Makers fame) on the global impact of Reggae and the future of this musical genre both at home in Jamaica and throughout the Diaspora.
How have celebrations been impacted by the pandemic this year? How do the leaders of this movement move forward with a unified front to creatively build new bridges to continually expand the presence of the music? These are the questions the team explores as they discuss how they continue to expand the brand for Reggae music.
