What inspired you to start your musical career?
Growing up I always had the opportunity to perform and I knew it was something I wanted to do on a more serious level. In addition, I was raised in a very musical family and I saw how important it was for musicians to share their talents with the world. In 2018, I wanted to take the plunge and finally do music at a professional level.
How did you decide on your name?
It was very important to me to remain faithful to my roots and represent my authentic self. I decided to brand myself as Wadadli Strings as a means to honour my heritage (Wadadli is the indigenous name for Antigua), as well as the opportunity to perform the best instrument in the world, The Violin.
Who are your musical influences?
I hail from the twin island nation of Antigua and Barbuda. If I had to pick one thing, I would say that I’m most proud of the diversity and depth of the talent pool of creatives. As someone who partners with other creatives frequently, it’s always an awesome feeling to know I can go home to find the help I need.
What makes your music unique?
I do my best to remain true to myself while bringing out the authenticity of the songs I play. I spend a lot of time figuring out how to approach a song, and even take time to listen to different takes on the same thing. My hope is that I take you on a journey that leads you through a spectrum of emotion.
