Believe it or not, there was a time when poetry was actually a political movement, a representation of power and independence and a way to ensure that Caribbean voices would not be drowned out by our colonizers. Caribbean poetry helped shape our identity , helped us appreciate our own culture and gave us an opportunity to be truly heard.

One of the pioneers of this movement is Poet Laureate, Anson Gonzalez. His gentle nature refutes the mammoth strides he has made to ensure Caribbean authors not only had a chance to express themselves, but also had an audience for their work……
