Summary

The event featured local parang acts such as Los Islanderos, De Parang Side, The Islanders and Colly Garcia who all thoroughly entertained the crowd before Scrunter made his way on stage around 10:30 pm. He was worth the wait. He kept the crowd entranced with his signature energy and charisma singing soca parang classics like ‘Leroy,’ Eat Something Before You Go,’ Madame Jeffery’ and ‘Piece of Pork.’ . Between inviting the audience to sing along with some of his classic soca parang songs and dancing with some ladies on stage, he had the audience in the palm of his hand from start to finish!

Soca Parang King-Scrunter Kicks Off a Caribbean Christmas in Atlanta

‘ De Parang Now Start, De Parang Now Start.’ It was the strains of that holiday classic that set the crowd on fire during the recent performance of the Soca Parang King, Scrunter in Atlanta. The event held at Karibbean Konnection on November 26th  was branded as the kick off to the Caribbean Christmas season. Hosted by Nigel Fabien ,it was a night of fun, music and merriment to usher in the Christmas season the way only Caribbean people can. To add additional flavor to the event, there was food available for sale by Tassa Roti Shop and Colly’s Doubles Stand, while the bar featured traditional Caribbean Christmas drinks such as sorrel and ginger beer to name a few.

The DJS for the night created a festive mood for patrons with their musical selections. DJs K. Karine, DJ Heavy Bass and DJ Corey played carols, parang classics and new soca parang hits before opening the stage to local parang acts.
